The Prince is recalled

India’s most successful Cricket Captain, Saurav Ganguly was recalled back into the Indian test squad today. Despite all that has been said about him in the past, I am quite happy that he has been recalled back into the Indian squad.

I certainly wish him all the best, we all know he has been circumspect to the short pitched stuff in the past, and getting back into the Indian team, specially when they are having a miserable time back in South Africa is not going to be easy. However a part of me still wants him to perform really well, and maybe even be recalled back into the One-Day team. Some of my most memorable moments watching cricket have been watching Tendulkar and Ganguly open the Indian innings in one-day cricket, and I certainly want to relive those moments again.

Now what is interesting is the fact that Ganguly’s inclusion is a total reversal of what Greg Chappell would have wanted, since Chappell was an advocate of bringing in fresh talent into the Indian team. It would be interesting to see how India fares in the test matches. Most of the team which would be picked for the test series would be the same as that which toured South Africa previously, with the likes of Dravid, Sehwag, Tendulkar, Laxman, Ganguly, Zaheer, Kumble and Harbhajan.

Here’s a small clip of what our man of the moment, Lord Snooty as his opponents call him,  has achieved in the past.

All the best Saurav and remember, someone , somewhere also wants to see you back in the one-day cricket team. Will that dream become a reality..no idea but for now go and tame Pollock and Co.
