No, the title is not the name of the song by the Vengaboys, it’s the philosophy we follow at Tekriti.Yesterday was one of the most fun filled parties ever at work. The occasion was the birthday party of Ashish and Gaurav. Both of them celebrate their B’day in August, and since they could not really have that much of a celebration on their respective birthdays[see here and here], the folks at office decide to make up for it and we had a helluva birthday bash.

To start with, Sachin and his team of party organizers had a tough time getting the people off their work desks. Yes we all work very hard, given that it was a Friday and 8:00 PM, people were still busy getting their code reviewed, checked in, their documents finalized and the last set of mails sent out. But what followed truly vindicated our motto of “Work hard. Play harder. Make history”.

Slowly the people started getting into the mood, and taking the chairs which had been setup for the first game, passing the parcel. With Saad taking over the camera and DJ Manish taking over the floor on his console(a.k.a laptop), we started the game to the very apt music of Stevie Wonder’s - Happy Birthday to you.

If the parcel landed in your hands when the music stopped, there were interesting incidents which you had to enact. Like Arvind trying to get out of an application crash (on ship day), when he is already late for a date (above), or Ashish trying to make a presentation to an audience with Ants in his pants, or Gaurav being caught by a cop in a state of being drunk. There were others too like mimicking Ashish, Gaurav and Manish. I must say everyone laughed till their diaphragms could no longer stretch on seeing people enact these instances.

That sure whipped up an appetite, and after some more drinks, snacks and cake (it was a b’day after all), we played a round of Housie, Housie with a difference, I played the caller, but the numbers were generated on a computer, and the tickets were printed from the computer. Hey we are Teknokrats after all !!

Finally it was dinner time, and after hogging on all the delicious food, we danced till we had digested all that we had eaten. So as everyone was getting hungry again, there was ice cream for all, with large helpings too.

We wrapped it up with some “shero-shayari”, which most people read out from their cellphones.

We’ve had a lot of fun filled events and parties at Tekriti, and every party we wonder, if this was the best we’ve had. So until the next party, lets get back to working harder, working smarter…. and making history.
